Lakeshore Public Schools

Lakeshore Community Schools developed a plan their community could support to pass a bond to complete needed improvements in their district.

The original Lakeshore Facility Assessment called for $120 million in improvements. The previous firm and bond committee asked the committee for $103 million. The community voted with a resounding, no. Lakeshore’s buildings were still in need of improvement, and the last bond campaign was 5 years in the making. Kingscott was selected to help. To start, we went out into the community to talk to voters and understand what happened in the last election. We scaled improvements back to $60 million and then conducted an Epic MRA Survey to make sure the new plan was acceptable. In the end, the bond was cut back to most critical needs and the community was willing to support a $38.6 million proposal as well as a 2nd proposal for the elementary schools for $16.8 million. Breaking the bond into 2 questions, allowed the voters more flexibility in choosing and removed the all or nothing mentality that had created a lack of support the first time around. Lakeshore schools now has updated facilities that are supporting the 21st century needs of their students.
