Chelsea High School Athletics

Chelsea High School, originally designed by Kingscott, has experienced significant growth in extracurricular participation, particularly in athletics and the arts. As these programs expanded, so did their space and resource requirements. To support this growth, the school underwent a thoughtfully planned addition and renovation, including updates to energy-efficient mechanical systems, ensuring a modern and sustainable environment for students and staff.

  • New auxiliary gym, weight room and lobby/restroom space for adjacent tennis courts and soccer field
  • Weight room designed to withstand point loads of heavy dropped weights, as well as a staff/team collaboration room for easy supervision and connectivity
  • State-of-the-art sanitizing lighting system in new weight room to minimize the spread of germs and viruses
  • Overhead glass doors between auxiliary gym and weight room for easy access, supervision, and dual use of the spaces
  • Auxiliary gym and weight room with daylighting components
  • 500-seat bleacher capacity in auxiliary gym to allow smaller competitions to take place at the same time as larger events
  • Upper level track extended to maintain bleacher access from above as in the existing main gym
