GISD Fire Training Center

The first of its kind in Michigan, the Fire Training Center in Genesee Intermediate School District opens up a new world of possibility for their students.
The new FTC will offer learning opportunities in several high-demand fields for students who will learn to become first responders, firefighters, and EMTs with hands on experience.

The building is designed to be a teaching tool that the students can learn all of the necessary skills they’ll need to pursue careers in these critical fields.

  • Two apparatus bays to house the firefighting vehicles and for students to learn the skills required to operate and maintain the vehicles.
  • Stairwell training tower for emulating specific safety scenarios.
  • Apparatus bays have all the amenities typically found in a professional firehouse.
  • Multi-use classroom space that will provide opportunities for lecture, group, and hands-on activities.
  • Teachers' office with direct views of the apparatus bays, classroom, and the campus.
  • Locker rooms for students to suit up with gear, including breathing apparatus.
