We are proud to congratulate our most recent fellows, Zahra Basha and Dana Anderson, who officially graduated today from the Challenge Detroit fellowship program – culminating their year of service by delivering their fourth and final Challenge project in collaboration with Give Merit.
Throughout the past year, Kingscott had the privilege of working alongside Zahra and Dana as they grew through the fellowship, contributed to impactful projects, and deepened their engagement with Detroit-area communities.
What Is Challenge Detroit?
Challenge Detroit is a year-long, full-time, paid fellowship designed to attract and retain talented, community-minded individuals committed to making a positive impact in Detroit. Fellows spend four days a week working with “host companies” across a variety of sectors (ranging from nonprofits to established firms), gaining valuable professional experience and building skills that support long-term careers. (challengedetroit.org)
On Fridays, Fellows pivot from their regular work schedule to participate in “Challenge Projects” – collaborative, human-centered, social-impact initiatives with local nonprofit and community organizations. These projects leverage creative thinking, strategic planning, and teamwork to address real community needs. (challengedetroit.org)
Beyond work and projects, Challenge Detroit emphasizes connection and leadership development: Fellows build meaningful relationships with their cohort, connect with mentors and local leaders, and grow as socially conscious professionals. (challengedetroit.org)
Why This Matters to Us
For Kingscott, supporting Zahra and Dana as part of their Challenge Detroit journey aligns with our belief in investing in talent, giving back to community, and supporting people who strive to make their mark – both professionally and socially. We’ve watched them bring energy, creativity, and commitment into every task, and we are excited to see how they carry their experiences forward.
Their final project with Give Merit demonstrates not only their dedication but also the meaningful impact the fellowship is designed to facilitate. As they now graduate from Challenge Detroit, we look forward to watching – and being proud supporters of – their next steps.
Please join us in congratulating Zahra and Dana on this impressive milestone. We’re grateful to have had them on our team this year – and we know the future holds many great things for them. Stay tuned for updates on their next chapters.
